What a great spec! Kudos to the original owner <golfclap>.
2002 was the 1st year for the updated/facelifted 996. The narrowbody base Carrera had underbody fittings for improved aerodynamics, front and rear bumpers were restyled, but most importantly Porsche gave the Carrera the Turbo’s updated headlights with standard bi-Xenon lamps (no more Boxster look!). I know there are cheaper 996.2’s with similar mileage but the spec on this one makes it worthwhile.
On the exterior the Polar Silver has a blue hue that isn’t regularly seen on a narrowbody 996 (probably because of the up-charge). The wheels on this car are stock 18″ Carrera Lightweights. The car is also equipped with the flared rocker panels. Remember, 2002 model year there was no factory aero kit.
The face-lifted Carrera’s also got new engines. The original 3.4L M96/02 were all replaced by a single 3.6L M96/03 type producing 315HP. These new engines also came with a new VariocamPlus system and a new DME that mimics the Turbos minus the boost control. Unfortunately, the M96/03 still suffers from the same IMS issues as the M96/02. Unfortunately no info on any IMS/RMS work, so factor that into the negotiation.
The interior is finished in “Boxster Red” full leather (which we LOVE by the way). Option sheet is showing heated seats, embossed crests and the Comfort Package.
Facelifted, lower mileage 996 with an optional exterior color and optional full leather interior. If you prefer something than the usual Arctic/Black 996 this could be your car. Don’t forget that PPI! Get the IMS/RMS sorted and make this 996 your #firstflatsix.
