This 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (VIN WP0AA299XXS624076) has a claimed 58,600 miles and is finished in what appears to be “Slate Metallic” over “Graphite Grey” leather interior, aftermarket Champion/Champion style wheels and no information regarding any IMS/RMS work. Find this one offered here on Cars.com in Alhambra, California for $18,650.
The seller provided info is light on this one, so I’ll do the best I can. The Carfax is provided, and shows 5 previous owners, with the first 15 years in California before spending two in Nebraska before coming back to California. The carfax is also showing a transmission replacement at under 1000 miles (which is odd).
The 996.1 came stock with a 3.4 liter flat-six pumping out 296 hp and a cable connected throttle as opposed to the electronic throttle “e-gas” that came standard in 2000+ models. Many drivers prefer the feel of the cable connected pedal to throttle for a more raw visceral feel. As an added bonus, this car appears to be equipped with the very desirable Factory LSD.
The interior is finished in Graphite Grey leather and is sporting the optional 3 spoke steering wheel. From what I can tell, the car is sporting power seats, carbon interior trim finishes (console, dash, gear shifter and door sills) and the Porsche Crest embossed in the seats. An aftermarket stereo has been swapped for the factory unit.
Exterior paint looks flawless. Its an early ’99, but not so early that it has the fried egg headlight lenses. The stock wheels have been swapped for some aftermarket Champion/Champion replica wheels. The rear offsets don’t look right and the car is sporting an Audi/VW’esqe stretched tire look (we’re not fans).
Other than the wheels, this 996 Carrera looks like a solid choice to get into Porsche 911 ownership. Base C2, 296 HP, 6speed, RWD and 58K miles. Be sure to request the build/option codes from the seller, and don’t forget that PPI. Once you buy, get that IMS work done and enjoy those miles of smiles, haters be damned.
