6/25/18 UPDATE: Gone
This 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (VIN WP0AA2991XS626004) has a claimed 40,080 miles and is finished in “Arctic Silver” over “Graphite Grey” leather interior. The seller states, “Runs, Drives, looks… AWESOME!!” IMS/RMS/clutch all replaced 5000 miles ago. Find this one offered here on Craigslist in Cranston, Rhode Island for $25,000.
So lets get this right out of the way, the aftermarket headlight covers are atrocious and need to be trashed immediately upon signing of title on this car. As for the 19″ wheels, we’re not loving them but we’ll drive the car back home with them (we wouldn’t leave with the covers on though). Now for the positives, this is an early 99, with factory Aero (even the rear valence!), with the BEAUTIFUL DCT wheel ($$$$$).
The interior is finished in “Graphite Grey” leather and is apparent that the actual seating surfaces were recovered in an even darker leather at some point. What’s really nice here is the custom DCT Motorsport 993 Style 4 spoke wheel. The car does not appear to have the optional full leather (dash doors etc). What it does have is a crazy custom aftermarket radio with a Pioneer head unit, GPS, Satellite, Back-Up camera and alpine speakers in some fiberglass enclosures. The custom audio/speaker scene was never our scene, so yeah we’d rip all that out too.
This 996.1 came stock with a 3.4 liter flat-six pumping out 296 hp. The 1999 Carrera came from the factory with a cable connected throttle as opposed to the electronic throttle “e-gas” that came in 2000+ models. From the pics and me squinting as I look at the sellers low res window sticker this car does not appear to be equipped with the factory LSD.
The seller states, “All maintenance completed including IMS/RMS and clutch at 35,000 miles. Recent complete service at Porsche of Warwick.” Go get that PPI, remove a few things and make this beauty your firstflatsix.
