6/25/18 UPDATE: Price Chop, $49,900
This 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo (VIN NOT IDENTIFIED) has a claimed 24,747 miles and is finished in Black over Natural Brown leather. The selling dealer states, “…purchased new in Manhattan Beach, California on May 21, 2001 though has spent most of its life in Colorado and Nevada. The previous owner was a PCA member.” Remember, no IMS/RMS work needed with the Turbos as they lack the IMS bearing design. Find this one offered here on Craigslist in Bozeman, Montana for $51,900.
Craigslist ad here in case it gets snatched up.

Black over Natural Brown 996 Turbo, what’s not to like? 2001 saw the introduction of the 996 Turbo. On the exterior the Turbo body was widened 65mm at the rear and a new moving rear wing was designed to improve lift busting.
The front-end was redesigned with a new bumper designed for better road holding and downforce and the lights were reworked after all the complaining customers did because the 911 couldn’t be distinguished from the “pedestrian” Boxster.
This Turbo appears to sport it’s stock aluminum Brembo “Big Red” Calipers, 330mm (13″) discs and 18″ Turbo wheels. The seller states, “The Michelin Pilot Sport tires are in good condition (9/32 front and 8/32 rear), and the brakes are 80% plus front and rear.”
This 996 Turbo sports the M96/70 twin-turbo charged, DOHC engine good for 420 HP with updated VariocamPlus and DME. Porsche couldn’t fit the intercooler on top of the engine, like in previous iterations, so it was split into two and mounted on each side of the engine. The cooling is supplied through the ducts to the rear of the doors (thus widebody).
The interior is finished in “Natural Brown” with the full leather treatment, aluminum instrument dials, lumbar seat support, heated seats, 3 spoke leather steering wheel and digital sound package with remote CD changer.
These 996 Turbos offer exotic levels of performance for not much money these days. Very low mileage examples (think tweens) are selling in the $70K range. A 16K-Mile example just sold on BringAtrailer for $60K with buyers fee. The mileage difference is negligible and we think this one has the better interior color. If you want your first flat-six to be the Turbo variety, this looks like one worth enquiring about. Ask for a Carfax/Autocheck and don’t forget that PPI!
