11/14/18 UPDATE: Price chop…$12,900.
This 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera (VIN WP0AA2999XS620617) has a claimed 93,492 miles on the clock and is finished in Arctic Silver over Space Gray leather. Not a ton of info from the dealer, and no mention of any IMS/RMS work. Find this one offered here at Cars.com in Mokena, Illinois for $14,995.
ANOTHER BASE SILVER CARRERA! How many of these things did they make? We have said this 104X but I will repeat it for the new readers, we REALLY like the simplicity of the narrowbody 996 Carrera. In particular the 99’s because of the cable connected throttle and the optional factory Limited Slip Differential, which is exactly what we have here.
Super early production date here, another February 1998 car!!! The last two base Carrera’s featured here have been Feb 98 cars. This car as we like to say here, represents the trinity for early 996’s, LSD, Cable-Throttle and 4 spoke steering wheel. Modern enough, but still brings the nostalgic feelings of the 993. We don’t spy many exterior options at all, we’re just seeing the 18″ Turbo look wheels and what appears to be stainless steel exhaust tips. They don’t appear to be factory to us though. Early car, so yay on the fried egg headlights and rear ambers.
As for the interior, we spy Space Gray leather, powered comfort seats, and thats pretty much it. Looks to be a very base Carrera which is fine by us, less things to break 🙂
This car is perfect spec. 296Hp, 6sp, cable throttle AND LSD. 4 spoke 993 steering wheel and 993 style Turbo look wheels? Where do we sign up? CarFax appears clean (see it on the dealers site). Don’t forget the PPI. Remember the 99’s have the stronger dual row IMS bearing that had a lower failure rate than the later single row bearings. We’d still get it swapped for peace of mind though. Make this classic Carrera your firstflatsix.
I’m curious – how can you tell this car is equipped with the LSD without seeing the build code sticker?
TC button to the left of the radio! Thanks for following the page!!
Good to know! I drove this car yesterday. While the body was straight and clean, the car was beaten half to death. I saw bright green in the oil filler tube and black residue in the coolant tank. So it seems like oil and coolant might be intermixing. Also, the driver’s side mirror came off while I was driving it, and I got locked in the car when the drivers door latch failed. Also, that aftermarket exhaust turned out to be a muffler bypass – fun, but would likely get you stopped by police in most metro areas. There are better cars available for near this money.
Thanks for the info Michael!
