12/07/2018 UPDATE: Gone
This 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera (VIN NOT PROVIDED) has a claimed 45,276 miles on the clock and is finished in Arctic Silver over Space Gray leather. Not a ton of info from the seller, and no mention of any IMS/RMS work. Find this one offered here at CarsGurus in Katy, Texas for $18,937
We’re back folks! Not a lot of inventory out there these days, but we’re still trying. So here we are with ANOTHER BASE SILVER CARRERA! How many of these things did they make? We have said this 105X but I will repeat it for the new readers, we REALLY like the simplicity of the narrowbody 996 Carrera. In particular the 99’s because of the cable connected throttle and the optional factory Limited Slip Differential. Unfortunately, this car does NOT appear to be optioned with the LSD.
The seller is light on the details and did not provide a VIN. Why do sellers do that? They hiding something? You want to sell your car, buyers are going to want to do their homework. This isn’t a 2018 Ford GT that you aren’t supposed to be selling and you’re trying to duck Ford.
That being said, from the limited pics, this car has two fo the three things we look for when trying to find the perfect 996, Cable-Throttle and 4 spoke steering wheel. Modern enough, but still brings the nostalgic feelings of the 993. The missing option being the LSD here. We don’t spy many exterior options at all, we’re just seeing the 18″ Turbo look wheels.
As for the interior, we spy Space Gray full leather (door cards and dash), powered comfort seats, and thats pretty much it. Looks to be a very base Carrera which is fine by us, less things to break 🙂
This car is almost the perfect spec; 296Hp, 6sp, cable throttle, 4 spoke 993 steering wheel and 993 style Turbo look wheels? Where do we sign up? Don’t forget the CarFax/PPI. Remember the 99’s have the stronger dual row IMS bearing that had a lower failure rate than the later single row bearings. We’d still get it swapped for peace of mind though. Make this classic Carrera your firstflatsix.
