12/22/18 UPDATE: Gone. I can almost guarantee you this will be flipped on another “boutique <eyeroll> dealers” site next week for $65K.
This 2002 Porsche 911 Turbo (VIN WP0AB29942S685266) has a claimed 11,327 miles and is finished in Slate Grey Metallic over Black full leather. The seller states, “Included with the sale are both keys, original owner’s manual, and window sticker.” Remember, no IMS/RMS work needed with the Turbos as they lack the IMS bearing design. Find this one offered here on CarGurus in La Crescent, Minnesota for $54,850.
Look at that option sheet! Or shall we say, lack of options sheet? No fancy schmancy options here folks! This IS the enthusiast track rat version of the 996 turbo. Which is fitting, in that this car is definitely lowered on some suspension mods and an old ebay listing indicates there is evidence of a rollbar.
2001 saw the introduction of the 996 Turbo. On the exterior, the Turbo body was widened 65mm at the rear and a new moving rear wing was designed to improve lift busting.
The front-end was redesigned with a new bumper designed for better road holding and downforce and the lights were reworked after all the complaining customers did because the 911 couldn’t be distinguished from the “pedestrian” Boxster.
From an old ebay listing the car is sporting H&R Coilovers, which is evident with the stance in the pics. This Turbo appears to sport it’s stock aluminum Brembo “Big Red” Calipers, 330mm (13″) discs and 18″ Turbo wheels. There’s probably a good chance the pads were upgraded.
This 996 Turbo sports the M96/70 twin-turbo charged, DOHC engine good for 420 HP with updated VariocamPlus and DME. Porsche couldn’t fit the intercooler on top of the engine, like in previous iterations, so it was split into two and mounted on each side of the engine. The cooling is supplied through the ducts to the rear of the doors (thus widebody).
The interior is finished in “Black” with the full leather treatment. The build sheets is showing ZERO options. An old ebay listing indicates that there is evidence of a rollbar, which would make sense when you consider the car was sold with zero options. With the lack of options and only 11K miles, I’d love to see a DME on this car. Any bets as to the number of Range 2 ignitions?
These 996 Turbos offer exotic levels of performance for not much money these days. A 14K-Mile example sold on BringAtrailer for $68K with buyers fee. If you want your firstflatsix to be the Turbo variety and enthusiast grade, this looks like one worth enquiring about. Ask for a Carfax/Autocheck and PPI! And please don’t forget the DME printout. Make this turbo your #firstflatsix
