5/24/18 Update: And she’s gone.
This 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera (VIN WP0AA2990XS624488) has a claimed 51,500 miles and is finished in “Lapis Blue over “Savannah Beige” leather interior. Factory Aero, LSD AND its’ IMS/RMS Clutch all replaced in the last 1500 miles. Find this one offered here on Cars.com in St. Petersburg, Florida for $23,997.
So lets get this right out of the way, the aftermarket chrome wheels, the K&N “Hot-Air” Intake and the aftermarket tail lenses are all awful and should be swapped immediately upon purchase. Now for the positives, this is an early 99, with factory Aero, LSD in finished in beautiful Lapis blue.
The interior is finished in Savannah leather and is sporting the 993 Style 4 spoke wheel. The car does not appear to have the optional full leather (dash doors etc) or the back seat leather. An aftermarket radio has been installed, and a bonus for all you Apple lovers, a lightning cable is present. The interior doesn’t show much wear in the seats or elsewhere, but could probably use some new floor mats to really set this one apart.
Agh, the ole K&N “Hot Air” intake. You know the one, “It adds 23 horsepower bro” from your local Porsche bRo. These never made sense to me. Pay $400 plus installation to make your car perform…worse? Decreased horsepower, ruined maf sensors, dashboard lights? Do people really think the engineers at K&N are better than those in Stuttgart? Intake aside, this 996.1 came stock with a 3.4 liter flat-six pumping out 296 hp. The 1999 Carrera came from the factory with a cable connected throttle as opposed to the electronic throttle “e-gas” that came in 2000+ models. The previous owners post history on Rennlist, also indicates this is an LSD equipped car.
Clean Carfax, IMS/RMS done, Factory Aero, E-Gas, LSD and 6sp. This is really the perfect first 911 (minus the wheels and intake :)). Go get that PPI and make this your firstflatsix.
