This 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera (VIN WP0AA29902S620529) has a claimed 57,619 miles and is finished in always beautiful “Seal Grey Metallic”. The seller states, “his will be the nicest, cleanest 996 you’ve seen”. No indication on any IMS/RMS work. Find this one offered here on CarGurus in Marietta, Georgia for $22,900.
We’re going to be light on the details here (because typical Craigslist ad) but lets make the best of it. 2002 was the 1st year for the updated/facelifted 996. The narrowbody base Carrera had underbody fittings for improved aerodynamics, front and rear bumpers were restyled, but most importantly Porsche gave the Carrera the Turbo’s updated headlights with standard bi-Xenon lamps (no more Boxster look!).
The wheels on this car are 18″ BBS Sport Design’s. No info from the seller on tire condition.
The face-lifted Carrera’s also got new engines. The original 3.4L M96/02 were all replaced by a single 3.6L M96/03 type producing 320HP. These new engines also came with a new VariocamPlus system and a new DME that mimics the Turbos minus the boost control. Unfortunately, the M96/03 still suffers from the same IMS issues as the M96/02. Unfortunately, the seller makes no mention of any IMS work, so proceed with caution.
The interior is finished in “Graphite Grey” leather and the very rare Sport Seat option (extra upper bolstering). Additionally this car is equipped with floor mats, heated seats, PSM and the Technic Package. The best part of this interior…the GLOVEBOX! Poor 996.1 owners didn’t even get a glovebox.
This looks like a pretty good offering especially considering that the seller claims they have all the service history and manuals from new. 996.2’s are usually asking $25K without the IMS work, so you’re ahead of the game here. Don’t forget that PPI! Make this 996 your #firstflatsix
