This 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera (VIN WP0AA29963S620813) has a claimed 71,000 miles and is finished in rarely seen “Dark Teal Metallic”. The seller states, “Beautiful rare color combo with lots of cost options (call for list) and lots of recent service and maintenance history including the IMS bearing upgrade”. So let’s see here, 4 owners, mileage looks consistent and no accidents. So far so good.
2003 was the 2nd year for the updated/facelifted 996. The narrowbody base Carrera had underbody fittings for improved aerodynamics, front and rear bumpers were restyled, but most importantly Porsche gave the Carrera the Turbo’s updated headlights with standard bi-Xenon lamps (no more Boxster look!).
According to the VIN this car was born with 18″ Carrera Light Weights. The wheels on this car are 18″ Turbo II’s or Turbo Look II’s or some reps. The seller states that the car was just fitted with Z-Rated Sumitomo tires.
The facelifted Carrera’s also got new engines. The original 3.4L M96/02 were all replaced by a single 3.6L M96/03 type producing 320HP. These new engines also came with a new VariocamPlus system and a new DME that mimics the Turbos minus the boost control. Unfortuntaley, the M96/03 still suffers from the same IMS issues as the M96/02. Fortunately for you, the seller claims the IMS/RMS has been taken care of with this car.
The interior is finished in “Graphite Gray” full supple leather (nice option) with power seats and the embossed Porsche Logo in the head rests. The best part of this interior…the GLOVEBOX! Poor 996.1 owners didn’t even get a glovebox. As with all 996 911’s, the ashtray door on this one is broken.
The Dark Teal Metallic is a welcome sight. It’s almost as if every used/pre-owned 996 is black or some shade of silver or gray. We welcome the Dark Teal Metallic here and don’t see them around at all. Make sure you get eyes on the IMS/RMS receipt/invoice/workorder and don’t forget that PPI!
