7/10/2018 Update: Gone in less than 24 hours.
This 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera (VIN WP0AA2994XS626857) has a claimed 70,000 miles on the clock and is finished in “Arctic Silver”. The seller states, “All original 911 kept in climate controlled hangar all its life this car is mint!”. The ad also indicates the IMS has been replaced. Find this one offered here on Craigslist in Minneapolis, Minnesota for $15,500.
Craigslist ad here in case someone scoops this up before you see this.
I know what you’re thinking, “Not another Silver C2”. What can we say, they must have been very popular in 1999. That being said, as we have mentioned many times here, we like the 99’s because of the cable connected throttle and the optional factory Limited Slip Differential (only optional on the 1999 C2 and 2004 AE’s).
The ask is really CHEAP money. This appears to be mostly stock save for the aftermarket rear wing add on and a set of OE Carrera III’s. The seller didn’t post an option sticker and I can’t get a good look to determine if it’s equipped with an LSD or not.
296Hp, 6sp, cable throttle, (maybe an LSD) and a new IMS? This will be gone by the end of the week, act accordingly. Be sure to ask for a picture of the option codes, and don’t forget that PPI. Make this classic Carrera your firstflatsix.
Wow, someone got an awesome deal! Unfortunately, that someone wasn’t me!
Those kinds of deals are never available long.
This car appeared at a dealer in SD about 2 weeks after this ad. Either bought and flipped or traded an auctioned. I inquired and upon looking at the recent service history, saw the car had been recently diagnosed with severe bore scoring at Imola Motorsports. The prognosis was to rebuild the motor. Prime example why you always do a PPI!
Great info Pat! As i just googled the VIN again, you’re right, this was at a dealer in Soux Falls SD asking $20K. Unfortunately, it appears to have been sold. We can only hope the new buyer did their due diligence.
