You looking for your firstflatsix? Well this looks like a winner. Midnight Blue, 996.2, 6sp and less than 70K miles. What more do you need?
2002 was the 1st year for the updated/facelifted 996. The narrowbody base Carrera had underbody fittings for improved aerodynamics, front and rear bumpers were restyled, but most importantly Porsche gave the Carrera the Turbo’s updated headlights with standard bi-Xenon lamps (no more Boxster look!).
On the exterior the Midnight Blue is a nice change from the typical silver/grey 996’s that are typically for sale. The wheels on this car are kinda lame in that they are the base 17″ 996 Carrera 10-Spoke wheels. Stock 18″ Carrera Lightweights and other stock variants can be found fairly cheaply on the web, so don’t let that dissuade you.
The face-lifted Carrera’s also got new engines. The original 3.4L M96/02 were all replaced by a single 3.6L M96/03 type producing 315HP. These new engines also came with a new VariocamPlus system and a new DME that mimics the Turbos minus the boost control. Unfortunately, the M96/03 still suffers from the same IMS issues as the M96/02. Unfortunately no info on any IMS/RMS work, so factor that into the negotiation.
The interior is finished in “Graphite Grey” partial leather. The option sheet is showing Technique Package and heated seats. It’s a minimally optioned 996 for sure.
Midnight Blue, facelifted, lower mileage, minimally optioned 996 6speed. Don’t forget that PPI! Get the IMS/RMS sorted and make this 996 your #firstflatsix.
