We hope everyone is staying safe out there. We have had to put on multiple hats ourselves including which is limiting all the time we have to spend at home. So we apologize for the lack of regular content you know and love. That being said, today’s is a great one. This car was actually local to us here in NJ that we considered for our own personal purchase last summer. Here’s what we know; seller in NJ got the car from Marshall Goldman. The spec is pretty cool, Basalt Black (rare) with flared rockers, 18″ Carrera Lightweights and PSM.
Not much going on in the interior as it’s finished in standard “black” leather with Sport Seats and the Advanced Technic package.
A facelifted 996.2 in Basalt Black with sport seats and flared rockers is a cool spec in our book. The car was basically not driven its entire life with only 16K miles. Budget $3500 for IMS/RMS work. The car was for sale briefly last winter from the selling dealer before disappearing from our radar. We’re pretty sure they were looking for the same $29K ask. They probably pulled it looking for better selling conditions in the Spring, so much for that plan. Given the current financial climate, I’d bet they take less now. Don’t forget that PPI! Make this black on black 996 (WP0AA29902S620918) your #FirstFlatSix.
Good looking 996.2. There’s a similar spec one on BaT right now (although gray interior, regular seats and turbo twist wheel) with 52k miles. It’s had the full Raby treatment including IMS Solution done as well as a lot of other maintenance. Be curious to see what that one hammers at…may help someone if they’re looking at this one from a comp. standpoint?
That car has 52K miles, wheels it wasn’t born with (powder coated in an awful color BTW) and an awful graphite grey interior. They don’t compare. I know the BaT commenters love to circle jerk around a Raby certified car but any mechanic can install the LN or any number of alternative vendor IMS bearings. This car is superior.
flatsixadmin- Did you review the Carfax ownership history? Any thoughts on the 3 and 4-month ownership periods of owners 4 and 5, respectively? Nice find regardless- I’ve never seen Basalt Black offered on a 996 before.
CarFax isn’t the end all be all, they routinely add owners when a paperwork/registration change happens. Don’t necessarily let that discourage you from possibly purchasing. We rarely see Basalt on anything other than Turbo’s as it was an upcharge in price.
